Bally, 1981
Fathom is a blast to play! Two sets of inline drop targets lead to two ball traps. Once you land in one, you knock down the inlines to start multiball. There's also a 1-2-3 drop target bank that you should hit in order, and A-B-C lanes that you can switch with the right flipper. Hitting a trap is a really satisfying shot. Voice callouts are also cool, and the art package is terrific.
This Fathom came to me pretty rough. It had a big hole in the back that I filled, sanded and painted. It would not boot due to alkaline battery damage, which was repaired, and the battery was replaced with an NVRAM. Several dead transistors on the lamp driver board were replaced. I recapped the sound board and power supply, re-sleeved a bunch of coils, replaced some broken drop targets and plastics, and of course installed new lamps (comet warm whites) and rubber.
If you have Susan B laying around, it's worth 5 credits in the middle slot!
