Flash is my second pinball, and came to me in a fantastic way. About a decade ago, a friend asked if I could take a look at his pinball machine (this machine) which had quit working. With some effort, and minor repairs, we were able to return it to use. He was happy to be able to play again, and I was happy to help.
Recently, he contacted me to say he was moving, and wouldn't be able to take the Flash with him. It had also fallen into disrepair, and he wanted someone to have it that could take care of it. He gave it to me for free.
The primary issues were caused by bad interboard connectors and sketchy chip sockets, which I replaced. I also sanded and re-glued a few inserts, then installed a playfield protector to get smooth ball movement. I changed the backbox to warm white Comet LEDs, installed new rubber, repaired the ball shooter, fixed the knocker, coin mechs, and left flipper, rebuilt all three flippers, re-sleeved a few solenoids, repaired the drop targets, replaced some leaf switches, recapped the power supply and sound board, replaced burned matrix resistors, installed new legs and backglass, and much more.
It now plays like an absolute dream.
